Transformative Technologies

Transformative technologies allow educators to innovate teaching, learning and assessment, connecting staff, learners and institutions. This connectivity presents real opportunities to deliver personalised learning, support and timely feedback (Fuller et al. 2022). Used well, technology can help us move beyond traditional, episodic testing toward continuous, competency‑focused assessment supported by performance, simulation data, and real‑time analytics. At a systems level, transformative technologies support scalable, flexible assessment models that can adapt to diverse learners and evolving healthcare demands, ultimately strengthening the preparation of future practitioners for a digitally enabled, rapidly changing clinical environment.

We can support you with:

  • Critical analysis of your current education technologies and their usage
  • Developing strategies to make the best use of learner-held devices that personlise learning and assessment
  • Transforming large scale assessment practices using technology (eg portfolios, clinical skills assessments and OSCEs)
  • Faculty development including bespoke workshops critically reviewing where use of learner analytics will help, or hinder, your programme

We regularly facilitate workshops to international audiences on transforming learning and assessment through effective application of technology. We are the lead authors of the lates international consensus statement on technology enhanced assessment in healthcare professions education:
